The Learning Crisis
South African schooling is in crisis. In many of our primary schools, learners depend passively on the teacher to somehow transfer knowledge with little active participation in this process. Instead of developing learners who are engaged, independent, questioning and curious about learning, education is producing learners who are demotivated, listless and bored, with little capacity to retain knowledge, and even less ability to apply this knowledge to the progressively more challenging demands of analysis and problem solving required by the curriculum.
Creating a Winning Team
A real need exists for a learner improvement programme to come to the aid of learners’ and address the lack of learning culture that exists in public secondary schools. The Winning Teams learning and development model of engagement has proven that it is able to provide the DBE with a structured learning and assessment methodology to meet the needs of educators and learners.
